Which paper should you choose for your flyers and leaflets?

The same visual doesn't have the same impact on thin, glossy paper as it does on a thick, coated stock. Choosing the right paper is a question of image, use and budget all at once. Here's how to find your way through it for your flyers and leaflets.

Paper weight: light, standard or heavy

• 90 to 115 gsm: light and economical, perfect for large-scale flyer distribution.
• 135 to 170 gsm: the versatile standard, a good balance of sturdiness and price, ideal for leaflets.
• 250 to 350 gsm: a quality cardstock feel for materials meant to be kept (invitation cards, menus).

Paper type

Coated paper (matte or gloss) delivers crisp colours and good sturdiness: it's the most common choice. Recycled or natural paper, more matte and textured, sends a well-regarded eco-friendly signal. Every image deserves its own paper.

Matte or gloss?

Gloss brings colours and photos to life; matte is more understated and easier to read, especially with a lot of text. Lamination can enhance either finish while protecting the material.
