Single or double-sided: which outdoor roll-up banner?
This is the real decision to make, and it depends on the spot. Against a wall, a shopfront or a facade, single-sided is enough: nobody walks behind it. In the middle of a pavement, on a square, at the entrance to a market or a festival aisle, double-sided printing doubles the useful surface without taking up another square metre: people arriving from either direction read the same message. Outdoors it has a second benefit, since the extra thickness limits show-through when the sun sits behind the banner.
Available size
One size, 80 x 200 cm. It is a compromise designed for the street: wide enough for a headline that reads from a distance, narrow enough not to turn into a sail in the slightest draught, and tall enough to clear a row of heads or a queue. Set it up sheltered from gusts, against a facade or in a corner, and bring it in as soon as the wind picks up. Our outdoor roll-up section covers this range.
Finishing and outdoor legibility
Outside, the visual context is crowded: cars, signs, windows, passers-by. A design that works at a trade show gets lost in the street. Favour little text, large type, strong contrast between background and message, and one single thing to remember. Leave the details, the prices and the lists to a piece that people read close up. The full roll-up section helps you compare the ranges.
Preparing your artwork
Supply a 300 DPI file in CMYK, with 2 mm bleed and a 4 mm safety margin. For double-sided printing, send two separate files even when the design is the same. Keep the lower part plain: it rolls into the cassette and is often hidden by street furniture or by passers-by.
