Which paper for your restaurant menus?
170 g/m2 gloss coated suits cards that change often: daily suggestions, seasonal formulas, anything reprinted regularly. From 250 g/m2 the card holds itself: the Rives Tradition and Rives Design creative papers bring a visible grain and a soft shade that fine-dining rooms tend to prefer. Kraft Raw 283 g/m2 and recycled 300 g/m2 fit bistro, wine-bar and food-truck cards, with a natural tone that handles line logos better than dark solids. The Gmund papers, Hemp 320 g/m2 and Wheat 300 g/m2, are made from alternative fibres, as is Crush Maize 350 g/m2. For photographic menus, 350 g/m2 silk coated gives high contrast without heavy glare. Synaps 300 g/m2 is tear-proof and water-resistant, the choice for terraces and constantly handled cards.
Available sizes
A4, A4 portrait and A3 carry the full card of a dining room.
A5, A5 portrait and A6 portrait suit short cards, dessert lists and children's menus.
DL portrait slips into a narrow menu holder or a cutlery pouch; the taller 14x30 is the tabletop stand format.
The 21x21 square stands apart and works well folded once, for a wine or cocktail list.
Finishing and double-sided printing
Gloss or matt lamination, on one or both sides, keeps fingerprints off the card; encapsulation goes further and seals the edges. A single fold gives four pages, a roll or accordion fold gives six.
Preparing your file
300 DPI, CMYK, 2 mm bleed on every edge and a 4 mm safety margin. On creative papers, set text slightly bolder: the grain absorbs ink.
