Which paper for your folded leaflets?
The 90 gsm offset and 90 gsm gloss coated are the lightest weights: flexible, easy on postal weight, well suited to wide distribution and to leaflets with several folds. The 115 gsm recycled keeps that flexibility with a recycled fibre. From 135 gsm coated upwards, gloss or silk, the leaflet holds its shape in the hand, which is the usual choice for a sales brochure. The 170 gsm silk adds a further degree of stiffness for a document handled all day. The 250, 300 and 350 gsm weights give a firm, almost board-like piece, best kept for simple folds. Then come the specialty stocks: Rives Tradition and Rives Design at 250 gsm, with a texture you feel under the fingers, Gmund Hanf 320 gsm and Gmund Wheat 300 gsm, made from hemp and straw fibres, and a 300 gsm recycled for a rawer look.
Available sizes
DL, portrait or landscape, is the pocket format: it fits a standard envelope and a counter display. A6 does the same job in a smaller frame. A5 leaves room for photographs and price tables. A4 landscape, once folded, becomes a comfortable presentation brochure. The three squares — 14.8 x 14.8, 21 x 21 and 29.7 x 29.7 cm — stand out and suit creative work. Finally, 14.8 x 29.7 and 8.4 x 15 are tall and narrow, made for a menu or a programme.
Folds and finishes
Fourteen folding options are available, from a single fold to 2, 3 and 4-panel accordions, with roll folds, gate and window folds, the economy fold and cross folds. A roll fold nests the panels inside one another and reveals the content step by step; an accordion shows everything at once, which suits a timeline or a map. Lamination comes in gloss, which lifts the colours, matt, which gives a soft surface, or soft touch, with a velvet feel, applied to one side or both.
Preparing your artwork
Export at 300 DPI in CMYK, with 2 mm bleed and a 4 mm safety margin. State the fold you have chosen and keep text away from the creases: a headline sitting across a fold is hard to read. The full range is in our print shop.
