Which book should you choose for your drink tickets?
Drink tickets come in books of 25, 50 or 100 sets. The choice depends mainly on how many serving points you run and how long the event lasts. Books of 25 are easy to share between several volunteers and let you count sales stand by stand at the end of the night. The 50-set book is the middle ground for a village meal or a one-day tournament. The 100-set book saves you changing books every ten minutes on a busy evening, at the cost of a slightly bulkier item in the pocket.
The sizes available
The 10 x 5.5 cm two-part ticket is the classic bar token: one part goes to the counter in exchange for the drink, the other stays in the book or with the customer as proof of payment.
The 15 x 5.5 cm three-part ticket splits three services across one set: aperitif, main course and dessert for a served meal, or drink, food and entry for a full evening. It saves handling three different books at the till and makes the final count easier. It is also the format to pick when several stands share one payment point, since each part can name the stand it belongs to.
Preparing your artwork
Supply artwork at 300 DPI in CMYK, with 2 mm of bleed and a 4 mm safety margin. Each part has to make sense on its own once detached, so repeat the name of the event and the service on every part, and keep text away from the line between parts. Bear in mind that a ticket is read in a second, in a crowd and often in poor light: large type and strong contrast do more than a detailed design.
