Which material should you choose for your stickers?
Three adhesive materials, for three jobs. The 80 g/m² gloss coated paper gives a very smooth surface and bright colour; it is the choice for handout stickers, packaging labels and anything that stays indoors. White self-adhesive vinyl is a flexible plastic film: it takes moisture, rubbing and cleaning, which makes it the material for windows, vehicles, crates and equipment. Clear self-adhesive vinyl lets the surface show through wherever nothing is printed, so on glass or on a box the design appears to float, with no white outline around it.
The sizes available
A3 and A4 work as adhesive posters: opening hours on a door, an instruction in a workshop, artwork wrapped around a carton. A5, A6 and DL suit parcel labelling, folder marking, or a sticker slipped into an order.
The 8.5 x 5.4 cm size follows business card proportions, with the same information hierarchy, but it sticks to a machine, a folder or a laptop. The 14.8 x 14.8 cm and 6.5 x 6.5 cm squares give a large and a small version of one design, with 10 x 10 cm sitting between them.
Circles of 6, 8, 10 and 14 cm close a bag, seal a box or flag a new product on a shelf. The long 10 x 30 cm format works as a strip: a door frame, a shelf edge, a band across a window.
Shapes and cutting
Five shapes are offered: round, square, rectangular, oval and heart. Then two ways of cutting. A straight cut goes through sticker and backing together, so every piece is separate. A kiss cut goes through the adhesive only: the stickers stay on their silicone sheet and peel off one at a time, which makes handing them out or applying a batch far quicker.
Preparing your artwork
300 DPI, CMYK, 2 mm of bleed and a 4 mm safety margin from the cutting line. On a circle or a heart that margin matters twice over: text set too close follows the curve and reads crooked. On clear vinyl, remember that unprinted areas show whatever lies behind them, so add a coloured background wherever the design has to stay opaque.
