Which paper for your wall calendar?
A wall calendar is read from a distance and handled twelve times. The 170 g silk coated paper covers ordinary use: the page turns easily and lies flat against the wall. The 250 g silk coated paper is thicker, holds up better on a draughty partition or in a damp room, and gives the pages body once they are folded behind the wire. Gloss coated stock shows images at their best, useful when every month carries a site photograph, a product or a landscape. Silk remains the safer pick when the calendar doubles as a planner: it does not bounce back strip lighting and it takes a handwritten note.
Available sizes
A3 (29.7x42 cm) is the shared-display format: readable from a workstation, with room for a large image and boxes to write in. A4 (21x29.7 cm) suits a single office or a corridor. A5 (14.8x21 cm) is for tight spaces, next to a phone or a printer. Every size comes portrait or landscape: landscape widens the weeks, portrait gives more height to the image. Finishing and binding
Lamination is applied to the front, matt or gloss. Matt softens the colours and cuts reflections; gloss deepens photographs. Without lamination, the standard finish leaves the paper bare and easier to write on. The wire binding then comes in black, white or silver rings, chosen to match the dominant tone of your artwork.
Preparing your artwork
300 DPI, CMYK, 2 mm bleed, 4 mm safety margin. Leave a clear band at the top of every page: the punching for the wire sits there and would cut into a heading placed too high.
