Which colour for your bottle carrier with window?
The bottle carrier with window comes in two backgrounds: burgundy and blue. Burgundy is the classic wine choice, echoing the colour of a red and sitting well with cream, gold or restrained estate labels. Blue creates more contrast and works for spirits, whites, character beers and brands that would rather step outside the expected register. In both cases the window lets the label speak for itself: it identifies the product, the sleeve identifies you. Our bottle packaging section covers the other ways of presenting a bottle.
Available sizes
Three widths share the same 365 mm height. The 90 x 90 x 365 mm is the narrowest and suits a single bottle: a client gift, an award, a unit sale. The 180 x 90 x 365 mm doubles the width for a pair, a red and a white from the same estate for instance. The 270 x 90 x 365 mm adds further width, for a selection across a range or a seasonal set.
Finishes and marking
Marking is done by hot foil stamping, a metallic or pigmented film pressed onto the board with a heated die. The result is crisp and very slightly recessed, quite unlike ink laid on the surface. Five options are available: hot foil, gloss silver, gloss deep red, matt white and matt black. On a burgundy background, gloss silver and matt white stand out clearly; on blue, matt black stays discreet while gloss deep red gives a sharper contrast. A simple logo, with no gradients and no hairlines, works best with this technique.
Preparing your artwork
Work at 300 DPI in CMYK, with 2 mm bleed and a 4 mm safety margin. For the foil, supply the marking as a solid shape in a single tone, with no transparency and no drop shadow: foil is a material, not a printing colour.
